Using competition as a catalyst for growth

Tata Center students, postdocs, and faculty have won numerous awards, prizes, and competitions, spanning entrepreneurship, energy, water, sustainability, and more. These prizes afford not only encouragement and additional funding, but help them refine both the concept and execution of their projects.

Our projects have been recognized with major awards such as the USAID Desal Prize, the Vodafone Wireless Innovation Prize, and the Dubai International Award for Best Practices.

In addition, competing in and winning awards like the MIT $100K, Clean Energy Prize, and IDEAS Global Challenge has helped students develop business plans, broaden their entrepreneurial skillset, and supported the development of advanced technology.

Each competition is an opportunity for projects to take another step toward improving the lives of real people in the developing world.
