Hadley Sikes is an associate professor of Chemical Engineering at MIT. Her research focus is molecular science and technology for more effective treatment of disease. In the area of infectious disease, her lab engineers proteins and polymers and integrates them into rapid diagnostic tests for malaria, tuberculosis, and antimicrobial resistance. In the area of cancer, her lab develops new tests of tumor biopsies for metabolic and epigenetic modifications that can allow physicians to select effective therapies. The lab combines experimental and computational approaches that use chemical engineering fundamentals (kinetics, thermodynamics, transport) to deliver tests that meet clinical needs.
