Lama is a Master’s candidate in the MIT Technology Policy Program working with Professor Perez-Arriaga. She interfaces with the computer-aided off-grid electrification model, REM; which was developed at the Universal Energy Access Lab. Her research topic evaluates the specific drivers and regional uncertainties influencing grid design, reliability, and cost. Before pursuing her M.S., Lama worked across the energy industry, with previous experiences at ExxonMobil and Sigora International. Sigora International is an electric smart meter developer for emerging markets, and both designed and operated several micro-grids in Rural Haiti. Beyond work and academics, Lama is passionate about music, literature, and of recent, film photography.
