Leon Glicksman is a Professor of Building Technology and Mechanical Engineering at MIT. He founded the MIT Building Technology Program and served as head for 24 years. Currently, he is leading an MIT effort to develop energy-efficient, sustainable building technologies and compatible designs in programs in China, India, Japan and Europe. Recent research is focused on the development of assessable design tools for architects and engineers and the application of natural ventilation to commercial buildings. Research also include application of sustainable practices to the MIT campus; he served as co-chair the MIT Campus Energy Task Force. Among his awards are the Melville Medal of ASME, the Robert T. Knapp Award and the ASME Heat Transfer Memorial Award, and ASHRAE best paper award. He is a fellow of ASME and ASHRAE.
