Ryan is a Master’s candidate in the Mechanical Engineering department at MIT focusing on energy. Prior to MIT, he worked in Georgia Tech’s Zinn Combustion Lab and at General Motors developing fuel cell and power electronic technologies for electric vehicles. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech in 2017.

Ryan’s current research focuses on developing fabrication methods of flexible photovoltaic modules using traditional crystalline silicon. This project aims to reduce the cost of photovoltaics by eliminating the need for heavy glass and supporting structures from the module, thereby reducing material and transport costs. Additionally, flexible photovoltaics allow solar solutions to be deployed in new applications.

In his spare time, Ryan plays guitar, watches Chelsea F.C. soccer matches, and enjoys all sorts of activities outdoors.
